What is a job guarantee?

A job guarantee means that we at Skillcrush guarantee you’ll get hired if you work through our curriculum and job search process — or we’ll give you your money back on the Break Into Tech program.

Wait…what is the Get Hired Track?

If you haven’t seen our announcement about the Get Hired Track launch or checked out our programs page, here’s some quick info:

The Get Hired Track is a new component of our Break Into Tech program, and it is only available to Break Into Tech students who complete the technical skills training portion of the program — either the Designer or the Front End Developer track, to be specific.

It costs $2499 to enroll in the Break Into Tech program which now includes the Get Hired Track and Job Guarantee.

How does Skillcrush’s job guarantee work?

We deeply believe in our job search curriculum and the effectiveness of our job search process, so we’re putting our money where our mouth is. If you complete all the curriculum and work through every step of the process we lay out for you in the Break Into Tech program including Get Hired Track — and you don’t get hired, we’ll send the full cost of the program ($2499) straight back to you.

(If, however, you’d still like our help searching for a job after 6 months, we will provide full support for the Break Into Tech and Job Guarantee program for as long as you need. There’s no countdown clock!)

Check out our Break Into Tech page for more pricing details.

Will Skillcrush give me a job, or…?

If the idea of a job guarantee gives you the impression that Skillcrush will hand you a job at the end of the program (either at Skillcrush or at a partner organization), that’s not how this works. And we don’t think that would be the most ideal scenario for our students anyway!

While Skillcrush won’t give you a job, our career coaches will work alongside you to give you the tools, resources, and confidence you need to get yourself hired in a brand new job.

We’ll be with you every step of the way as you prepare your materials, apply for jobs, work with feedback from hiring managers, update your job search materials, field offers, negotiate, and more.

How long will it take to get a job?

Depending on the amount of time you can commit to job searching per week, it can take between one week to six months to find a job. We answered this question in much more detail here: How Long Does It Take to Get Hired In Tech with Skillcrush?

The Get Hired Track isn’t just about getting you a job now — it’s about giving you all the tools you need to get hired at this point in your career change, and the next time you hit the job market, and the next.

The Get Hired Track will give you the skills you need to navigate a tech job search now and throughout your career.

What happens if I don’t get a job?

First off, we really don’t think that will happen! In our early beta run for the Get Hired Track, over 90 percent of our students received job offers with an average job of eight to ten weeks from job search start to job offer.

If you work through all of our curriculum, commit to our job search process, and utilize all the resources available to you in the Get Hired Track, we’re confident you’ll get hired in less than six months.

However, if you don’t get a job — even after following our job search process and working through our Get Hired curriculum — per our job guarantee, we’ll give you your money back. That’s how the job guarantee works!

How does the program work?

The Break Into Tech program starts with your Career Track. You’ll select to focus on either the Designer or the Front End Developer Track (although you can learn both if you want to!). In your Career Track, you’ll learn the technical skills you need to find a job as a developer or designer. And if you’re not sure how to pick a Career Track, we can help. That shouldn’t stop you from getting started!

After you complete your Career Track and submit your portfolio to us for review, you’ll be eligible to dive into the Get Hired Track and begin preparing for the job search process.

The Get Hired Track, which is only available as part of Break Into Tech, teaches you the skills you need to succeed in finding a job, from the best way to present your resume, portfolio, and LinkedIn, to essential application and interview skills.

Once you’ve prepared your materials with your career coach, you’ll kick off the actual job search. And once you begin job searching, you’ll find a job within 6 months (or your money back).

With Break Into Tech’s Career Tracks and the Get Hired Track combined, you’ll be in prime condition to find a job.

What kind of jobs count as “jobs” according to Skillcrush’s job guarantee?

A full-time salaried position, paid part-time position, paid contract position, paid freelance position, paid internship, and paid apprenticeship, all in the technical field and all spanning at least a three-month timeframe, count as jobs under Skillcrush’s job guarantee.

What to watch out for when it comes to assessing job guarantees

We’re not the only tech skills training program that promises a job guarantee. When it comes to assessing job placements and job guarantees, you want to make sure that you’re getting the whole picture before you sign up.

Before agreeing to the terms of a job guarantee, make sure that you understand what you need to do to fulfill the conditions — for example, if the program requires you to apply to a particular number of jobs per week in order to receive your money back, or counts any job, even one outside of your area of training, you need to make sure those are terms you’re okay with.

Another aspect you want to look into while assessing job guarantees is the timeframe. When does the job guarantee kick in? If the timeframe is three years until you can get your money back, that’s something to seriously consider. Don’t worry, Skillcrush’s job guarantee is a lot shorter than three years! (It’s 6 months.)
