Outstanding read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little investigation on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I discovered it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!

“I was just searching for this information for a while. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, finally I got it in your web site. I wonder what is the lack of Google strategy that do not rank this kind of informative web sites in top of the list. Usually the top sites are full of garbage.”

Thank you for another informative website. Where else could I get that kind of info written in such a perfect way? I have a project that I’m just now working on, and I have been on the look out for such information.

I am in HR in the US, I completely understand that there are places that a picture is encouraged. If that is where you are from I would not discourage you in anyway. My experience has been that recruiters here do not like pictures second only to unprofessional emails, i.e. any email that uses Hello Kitty or Gangsta in it is not making it to the short list of candidates.

More often then not, if you apply to a sterile company, you only need a minimalist-looking resume, and especially, you will need a simplified resume if you are applying to one of those automated job applications, since the important thing is to have keywords and not fancy graphics… I always thought the bar graph to show your level of knowledge to be silly and unneeded. That’s just a personal twist, not everyone needs to add. A resume template is useful, but its best to make your own or find one to showcase your personality….

These are lovely templates, but I’m curious why most of them include a photo of the candidate. Resume photos are neither required nor desirable in most of the companies I’ve worked in. Is this specific to developers? Thanks!

In Asia we have to send resumes with photos, so for me, they are ideal.
